What this is.

The Go Groups x Faith in Action series combines faith-based small group curriculum and community impact by applying entrepreneurial principles. Participants work together on a shared mission-minded venture or focus on their individual ventures. Participants work together for 6 - 12 weeks to take action - start or scale a business, launch a community or city movement, and serve more people with your God-given passion, purpose, and calling.

Why this matters.

Why should you live like 80% or more of your life (work, business, career) is disconnected from your God-purpose? Connect each participant’s God-given passion, purpose, calling, talents and gifts to multiply their impact in the Kingdom of God (Matthew 25, Parable of the Talents). Work as a group to get outside of the four walls and be the church in the community. Move beyond one-time food banks, clothing drives, or community initiatives that may hurt the people we serve. Provide a runway for more sustainable community impact and ignite the entrepreneurial, creative, and innovative passion of members in your congregation.

How this works.

Each of the 12 Go Groups sessions include a Scripture-based discussion, lesson video by Philip Harding connecting faith and impact, and ends with participants sharing feedback on completed projects. Participants move from just talking or dreaming to taking action with real people. Jesus said to go. (Matthew 28) This is how to go. An optional community impact event at the end of the series offers an opportunity to invite community leaders, government officials, and partners to participate in the story. Participants can then go to their next level, start their own Go Group, and live out their passion, purpose, and calling.

Frequent questions

  • This means you are going to the next level on your journey by empowering others on their journey. You will recruit a group ready to scale up their purpose with entrepreneurship and facilitate 12 sessions with them over at least 90 days. You will receive a leader guide with all the prompts and discussion questions for each session.

You do not need previous experience or expertise. Every time you run a Go Group it gets better. You will play the videos and guide a discussion with prompts in the Leader Guide. Going through Impact Junkie Base Camp would help you understand the framework, but is not required.

  • You get access to ongoing support sessions with Philip, other IJ guides, and other Go Group leaders. These will be conducted through regular calls and online group video sessions.

Other leaders have said these are the most valuable and rewarding sessions for their own purpose, business, and life work.

  • No! You just need to have a heart for bringing people together to live out their purpose. You are not teaching the concepts, but facilitating group meetings with feedback and discussion. You will have guide and video for each session. Being an expert coach or teacher wouldn’t hurt of course, but is not necessary.

  • Each session is designed to be one hour with a video and discussion questions to guid group the conversation and demo days.

  • You can. Once you join, you have access to be part of other Go Group sessions guided by other IJ mentors. You will also have leader sessions each month. The majority of Go Group leaders have started their first group with no prior experience. The framework is designed so you can go through and facilitate the group your first time. Every time you go, you can focus on a shared project or individual ventures depending on the group choice.
